AFAIK, the Lord Slug movie was made during the time that Toriyama was doing the Goku VS Freeza fight just prior to the Super Saiyan transformation. The False Super Saiyan was a prototype design for Super Saiyan that didn't pan out and was retconned into being Super Saiyan 0.5/False Super Saiyan.
