The day before Operation Augur arrives soon enough. Things get lively around the Dogs of War base, as the whole faction finishes their last minute tasks. While you're eating lunch in the mess hall, the Elecmon girl wanders over to you and slams a case down. It takes you a while to remember that her name is Liza.
"What's this?"
"A storage server!" She beams. "This is for the data. Squid configured it to be compatible with most city-wide data formats. We should be able to pack a Digimon's sample in here."
"I'm pretty sure it could fit into a Digivice." You say, looking down at your own.
"Not all of ours can do that." She replies, pointing to the shoddy-looking one at her hip. As she says that, the display activates and the monochrome face of Elecmon appears.
"Right. So we have... Six? Seven?"
"More than enough to indiscriminately steal whatever data we can."
You nod and get to work on retexturing the box. Just like last time, you turn it into a backpack so that it can be carried without issue. Liza wanders off to hand out the rest of the servers, and once you're done, you return to your meal.
That night, Wind calls a final meeting. You've finished all your prep, completed your practice sessions, and are collectively ready to dive in. The entry terminal has been designated, and your VPNs have been prepared. There's only one more thing to do.
"This is going to be the riskiest mission yet. But at least we only have one timer to work with. No bomb." He remarks, as he pulls up several icons on the screen. They depict all of you, along with pixelated icons of your partners.
"We're not having anybody wander off as a solo operative, like last time. But we need to split up into smaller squads once inside."
You're glad you're not being ditched again. You look at the others and try to recall what you saw their Digimon do. You've watched Gizamon, Gazimon, and Elecmon fight, though not these specific individuals, and have some idea of what to expect. Otamamon also helped kill a bot. Wind snaps you out of your contemplation.
"Marnie."
"Yeah?" You say, sitting up abruptly.
"I said that I want you to have first pick."
"Me? Why me?"
"The rest of us all have some idea of what to expect. You have a Champion-level Digimon, and a different fighting style. You should choose who you think you can work with first."
You look around the room and try to make your choice.
