Another story of mine;
>living across the world in European country
>had a bad breakup in the last year so I moved to try something new, feelings still festering over this
>father also recently passed away, wasn't really close with him but had me feeling really weird
>late 20's, uncertain about my future, all these emotions are starting to swarm together kind of like a storm and I am in the eye of the storm
>go to work on a construction site, get into the elevator with this irish guy
>elevator breaks down as we start descending
>he starts telling me his life story, how he was an orphan, he went to USA and was wandering around the deep south and found his way into the revival tents, extremely charismatic, has the gift of the gab
>starts mimicking all the stuff he was doing in there, praying being loud and extravagant
>explains how he escaped from the church stuff and was wandering around USA in the 80's and met a girl in a convenience store somewhere there
>fast forward to now and he married her and they have beautiful children, she just passed away from cancer
>we have been chatting for about an hour and we don't realize it, elevator gets fixed and starts descending again
>he looks to me and says "when the river starts flowing boy its best to follow it, because the river usually knows where its going"
>say goodbye, exit elevator
I was fucking shook when he said that to me, he helped me more then he knew, even though my problems were so minor.
