As an example, I posted "ivth aphglvs dwcfar mt slhm ed rprcot wq ncf jbotfdioys qcndeducpdsn" which is "this message should be easy to decode if you understand cryptography" put through a vignere cipher with the key pol.
This is the answer it hallucinated. Notice that it's KIND OF right, but neither of these answers is even the same length, in fact they're both different lengths. And this is really about as basic as you can get with a secret code, if you want AI to help you decode a message in a made up writing system you might as well just skip the steps and ask it to generate one paragraph of random fanfiction.
Seriously, AI is way too bad at word games. Try playing "wordle" a few times with it, by asking it to give guesses and then reporting back which letters were hits.
