to be fair, Lyse isn't literally out of nowhere she's been present from the start, they just decided to completely change her character so she may as well have been a new one, I think they saw Lyse wasn't well received and assumed it was because they killed most of the characterization Yda was given and thought if they just do the same thing but make a new character it wouldn't be the same issue, but realistically it's because Hiroi wrote (some of) Stormblood and Dawntrail, that's why it keeps happening
