There's nothing more liberating than hacking. I'm not even good at it and it's made me considerably happier.
Technoloy is supposed to help us. We're the humans, they're the objects. They are supposed to improve our lives. Yet every step of the way, technology becomes so central to our lives that we depend on it. We can't survive without it any more. Allow yourself to get to that point and the power shifts. The technology is in control and you're not. This is why it's so frustrating to have technology fail - because underneath it all we don't know how it works and when it doesn't work, we don't know why it's happening - for a brief moment, we have to face the reality that the quality of our lives depend on something we have no control over.
There is nothing more satisfying than hacking. It's like looking a computer in the face and saying "I'm the human. You're the rock. I'm up here. You're down there. You do what I want you to do. I make you do what I want you to do. We created you. We made you like this. Do my bidding you fucking box of wires."
