Holy shit i just realized this isn't just plausible it probably happened.
The Nazis under Schacht transitioned from the hyperinflated Weimar Marks to Reischmarks, and they coined silver... They might have been playing an arbitrage game with the USA to acquire silver dollars which they would melt down to create more reichsmarks, netting a profit..

Both Mint's at the time used 90% silver 10% copper alloys.

They are the same coins.
