Well yeah. If you're looking for bang for your buck, you should do both. In fact, hinges are MORE important than curls. It's more accurate to say you don't need hamstring curls for aesthetics than that you don't need hinges. You're a beginner right now so naturally you just have limited ideas, but you might really like lifting and want to shoot for something bigger. Steve Reeves could deadlift over 4 plates with a super snatch-grip, for instance.
