It's the same reason to have a job when everyone is calling that 'wage slaving'. You do it for yourself. Not for the money, but to have others who know they can rely on you to show up and be excellent. Knowing you're a decent person is the same. Doesn't matter who else knows.

This is similar to what Jesus purportedly said about prayer. You do it in private, not making a showy display of your piety like the Muslims do.
