tip: those who voted trump are not merely republicans or conservatives but anti-war independents, libertarians and ex-obama/bernie bro democrats. they absolutely will vote democrat, most especially in a local election with a democrat candidate who campaigns on being a moderate but will then enter congress and vote against everything trump does. furthermore, trump is supposed to be a swamp-draining change candidate, and if those types who typically think "who cares? I'm not voting because it doesn't matter and nothing changes" yet voted for trump anyway are then burned by him, they will simply stay home.
all trump and republicans have to do is alienate low propensity voters and they will lose what little lead they have come midterms where they will not only have a questionable record but no daddy trump to carry them over the finish line.
