confusingly not the actual first sherman , the M4 was primarily used by the US and would see combat later in operation torch

the M4 was a rush job and it was clear here, no telescopic sight (US had a 1.4x zoom on the gunner periscope which was linked to the gun instead), the internal arrangement for the crew was still not optimal, the periscopes were easily damaged
but the british didnt really care, it was a sight better than their crusader tanks and thats all that mattered
