Varg played too much D&D and started larping as a viking irl while gaslighting himself that Lord of the Rings is a pagan work by a pagan author and that the world will collapse into another ice age that will bring us back to the viking ages any day now. He's pathetic but his early stuff before the dungeon synth prison era is legitimately some of the greatest music in metal. Also he pretends to never have liked Venom when old fanzine interviews (and his old friends) claim otherwise because Venom doesn't fit his pagan larp persona.
