I've mainly been a shonentard all my life until recently and have been watching a lot of 2000s comedies. The one thing that immediately stuck out to me was how ecchi is such a foreign concept in America. We have too much of a puritan view of nudity and sex for something like ecchi to ever catch on here. Lolis and ecchi are always the biggest complaints americans have about anime and the more influence we have on anime the more these concepts will be scrubbed out to appeal to an american audience.
