Unfortunately it is the nature of politics for commitments to be made knowing full well that the "mea culpa" won't be as negative as the announcement was positive. It was a net gain to announce the release of the list then roll it back at a later date. The Biden administration did that every single month with jobs reports - all of them were revised downward because every single one of them was fake - even the corrections were lies - but of course the lugenpresse never reported that.
