Hmm. I vote for this spot being the best spot for your final base. It is:
1) close to an outpost for easy deathstill bodies
2) close to a trading post for quick fast travel
3) right on top of aluminum
4) close to map borders for map travel
5) a short flight from Sheol
6) close to all the late game dungeon type areas for easy pre-DD uniques
7) has easy access from the dunes via the ramp just to the east side
8) you can drive a buggy off the edge of the cliff and follow the shield wall to reach the rift for access to etherite
9) can drive a buggy off the cliff if you ever need to get t1-3 mats for anything

The etherite is the furthest stuff, but if you load a buggy up with it, you probably won't need to go back for a long while.
