>15 years ago I was on vacation on the Himalayas, I met an old man, he must have been about 60 years of age, he told me a deeply moving story about how he lost his wife tragically after a car accident and how he had to raise his 3 children on his own, during the time he was telling me this story, I had to interrupt him and ask him if he had family members from his wife's side that could have helped raise the kids, to which he replied ''Kevin, the responsibility was on me to raise these children'', now, of course, I couldn't speak his language and I had a translator with me by the name of Raj, he was a polyglot, very gifted from birth, able to speak fluent Mandarin, English, Spanish and some Russian, he had spent a long time travelling and was fluent in Tibetian as well, adding to his already rather impressive repertoire of languages. After some time talking with this old man, it came to me, if there is such a large amount of responsibility expected from this person, then surely, it would not be far-fetched to expect the same amount of responsibility towards startups and businesses people run, it should only be obvious that equally as much competence expected from this person given the tragic occurrance during which he raised his three children on his own, I should allow myself to expect equal competence towards businesses and their owners, most startups do not have roots in tragic situations, in fact, they for the most part are rooted in positive situations, that is to say that I should allow myself the freedom to turn down your proposal as you have not yet reached the same amount of emotional maturity as this 60 year old Himalayan man
