Chara hated humanity and wanted monsters free that much she was willing to go the route of martyrdom. Also could be that they didn't know how/if monsters and humans could make hybrid children (nothing in the game says yes or no to this, we technically don't know how monsters make kids if its purely spiritual or physical).
