From what I gathered, there was some Japanese woman who wrote a book of prophesies in the 90s I think. Thanks to the usual vagueness such things entail, she predicted something bad will happen on the day the Tohoku earthquake happened and might have gotten something else right too. She also predicted that something bad will happen yesterday. In the last couple of weeks there have been more minor earthquakes in Japan than there usually is during the entire year, so even people who aren't normally all that superstitious were on the edge.
