I have a lot of thoughts on Travanchet and the other missing Ascians but I don't really want to go into them, it's too much. I will just say this--assuming Travanchet isn't a pseudonym adopted by one of the others, then he would presumably be subordinate to the re-awakened Convocation members, who would be implicitly loyal to original cause of the Convocation (Fandaniel was an established, unique exception.) With Zodiark destroyed, they would presumably be moving on to a plan B of sorts for restoring the old way of things, hence the name Winterer. It could imply retreat or contingency for if things go disastrously. Venat had a plan B with the Loporrits and the moon, it stands to reason so would the Ascians.
But what I think really bears consideration is, assuming it is Travanchet, what's his interest in Calyx? The seemingly obvious answer is that Calyx wanted the key because he made some deal with Travanchet to retrieve it, which makes sense. Travanchet has an established association with priceless magical artifacts that meddle with time and space and whatnot. But it could also be about Calyx's research into immortality. If you can't rejoin the worlds to restore Zodiark, perhaps you could instead bring humanity back to its godlike potential in the Ancient world and rebuild from scratch.
That said, it always struck me as odd that the Unlost World was teetering on the brink of Calamity and yet nobody seemed aware of it, neither the organization that sent G'raha to the First nor Emet-Selch. Makes me wonder if keeping the Unsundered out of it was intentional.
