Now that Buddhism is gaining traction in the West and Christianity is visibly crumbling under the weight of its own dogma, a desperate synthesis is taking place. Christian apologists, unable to defend the contradictions of their faith, are now scavenging Buddhist wisdom to retroactively sanctify their dying religion. They claim Jesus was “just like Buddha,” or that he was a bodhisattva, hoping to smuggle spiritual legitimacy into a belief system rooted in blood sacrifice and blind obedience. It’s a last-ditch rebranding effort: when your god no longer inspires fear or awe, you try to market him as enlightened.

But this is not new. Christianity has a long, parasitic history of co-opting whatever system currently holds cultural prestige. It cannibalized Greek philosophy when pagan thinkers were too influential to ignore, dressing up Yahweh in the stolen robes of Plato and Aristotle. Now it turns to Buddhism, a tradition built on insight and ego death—everything institutional Christianity fears and suppresses. These syncretic fantasies aren’t bridges of understanding; they’re acts of intellectual theft by a dying cult trying to borrow the shine of something still alive.
