I present: Mica Blackrose.

The daughter of the owner of the Black Dragon Tavern - a bar best known for hosting adventurers, mercenaries, and all manner of swords-for-hire. In her youth, she'd help her family pour the drinks and serve the food, but she was always entranced by the tales she heard from the bar's guests. She believed them to be legendary figures, even the most mundane low level bandit-stomping rat-killing adventurers seemed like fantastical characters to the young Mica.

An adventurer named Darius (he was never known to have a last name) took a fondness to Mica, as she had a habit of sneaking him an extra potato, cut of meat, or mug of ale when her father wasn't looking. She loved his stories so much that when she was left to watch the place herself, Darius could often get a free meal as long as he gave her a story while he ate. Darius would conclude with a simple promise: one day, she could be just like him.

Mica expressed her wanderlust to her parents, who were immediately disapproving out of fear for what could happen to their daughter if she took up such a life. They argued back and forth again and again, until Mica had become old enough to simply disregard her parents' wishes. She sought out Darius and asked him to train her, but Darius claimed his life didn't allow him much time for the job. Instead, she advised her to seek Hagor, a retired adventurer Darius befriended long ago.

Mica eventually found Hagor and asked him to train her, but Hagor refused on the grounds that she was a woman - believing her utterly incapable of combat. Mica begged and pleaded, and Hagor reluctantly accepted only to get her off his case. Although Mica had some savings, Hagor instead elected for her to clean his house and handle basic chores he couldn't be bothered with anymore.

Mica tolerated this living arrangement for a year until she was able to single-handedly beat Hagor in combat, at which point he declared she was ready to face the world.
