To be fair, we don't know who wrote the memory episode. I doubt Maeda is writing all of this minor side-content. But he is generally consulted on almost any writing in the game, so he would at least have known about it and approved of it.

One thing to note though is that memo stories are made long before the associated styles release, which means this was written alongside 5.2. That means from the beginning they had written this memo story in which Wakki shows clear and undeniable attraction to women.
So the idea that Wakki was ever even considered to be potentially straight is just laughable.
