Toby isn't tumblr or twitter, he's a man formed by the 2000s newgrounds/webcomics scene, which is why all the gay stuff in his games is tasteful, not the main focus, and isn't intrusive.
When gender tumblr makes a game it's about gigadykes with vitiligo who only talk about sexuality, pronouns and sex toys while fighting evil white hetero men, not anything at all like Undyne x Alphys or Suselle.
If all or most "gay games" were like UT/DR, people would complain about lgbt stuff in vidya way less.
