It did live up to the hype and then some. Yeah, it skipped some little parts that were unequivocally good in the manga as well, but overall it was a great season, decently animated and voiced, and i can't wait for S2

Sorry anon, there won't be any more bees to fuck. In exchange, next season will have osakan crab girl, mutants and Captain Celebrity arc. S3 (if we ever get there of course) will be kind of a drag because of the high amount of flashbacks involved
