Leaked memos from the defense department outlined Rosenberg’s plan to replace the Bible with Mein Kampf and the cross with the sword in church buildings. It’s unclear if it’s a forgery or not, but like the Irish autist in this thread demonstrates, it is a possible plan that could have been in place (Braune Bibel was a recognized euphemism for MK, according to Robert Michael and Karen Doerr’s lexicon) It should be noted that during the war itself, the Holocaust wasn’t yet cooked up as an excuse for America to fight Germany, and most of the anti-Nazi sentiment was fear of German invasion and “overturning the good old American way of life”, including religion. Hell, even Disney propaganda cartoons at the time reflect this was the prevailing sentiment.
