You say this but the "third-wave Tamagotchi boom" in particular that's happening in Japan is specifically based on Plus (Connection) and Puchipuchi Omisecchi (Corner Shop) nostalgia, and they're completely leaning into it with recent collabs, merchandise and even the new Switch game. It makes the artstyle shift all the more baffling.
