Higashide Yuuichirou strikes me as a toku fan (when he spoke of Extella Link's continuity/tone he even compared it to a Kamen Rider Summer Movie) and he would have interesting experience for dealing with toy tie-in asks given his work in Fate has him consistently having to deal with mandates from the higher-ups at Type-Moon but he's gotten better at dealing with their business-related demands over the years.
He's typically not been the most ambitious of writers but a lot of what he does is try and bring back things that don't work and make them appreciated (the characters who he felt weren't properly explored in Apocrypha, or Young Moriarty who he was forced to throw in last minute to a chapter, both were later reused with more fleshed out roles) and his biggest flaw is that his work might not always be the best, but it never is complete crap.
