Now your scowl is directed at him. “You’ve been sitting on this for months. Been saving it for a rainy day, have you?”
“Yeah, no scud.” Wasp doesn’t back down, in fact he leans in with a hiss. “We just plotted out how best to stab our allies in the back and rob them blind while we cut and run. I’d say the day is looking pretty fucking rainy.”
“If it's such a bloody great payday why don’t you take this to your rebel friends?”
The two of you glare at one another for several moments, unspoken accusations going both ways. Yeah, this could solve a lot of problems. But deciding whether or not to do the raid should have been a decision left to the LT weeks ago, if not months. Those supplies could have saved people, maybe even your people. Unlikely, but there is that possibility. Wasp eventually blinks and looks down at his feet.
“Because if -we- pull it off we’ll have everything we need. We won’t need to steal scud for this Phase One rubbish. It’s going to be bad enough when we cut and run, but if we take what little they have left when doing it… These people are already desperate, Nat. I don’t think that lot back there really understand just how ugly it’s going to get.”
“If I can get you on board, we can get the LT on board. I know it, trust me. We can stop… all this.”
Wasp’s angry glare dissipated into the wind, like the man has deflated. He’s looking at you again, pleading with his eyes. ‘Trust me’. Is there anyone on the fragging planet that isn’t asking that of you these days?
“Look Nat, I’m just trying to do the right thing here. We need the supplies for this to work, I get it. But we don’t need to gut our own side to get them, I’m telling you there’s another way.”
