If I had to use papers, I generally use 9x6 scratch papers in binder clips. This is because I prefer to re-organize my drawings by subject and I couldn't really do that with regular sketch books.

I used to re-thread or re-bind old spiral bound sketch books, but there is just no way for me to do it in a very clean way, the page don't turn properly when I rebind them, but I don't really have time or money to invest in a new hobby like that.
