Turns out old white European men are invading his country and spending money, so he's retaliating by being addicted to our news cycle and making comics about it whenever it suits to paint a bad picture.

I should smile that this man's culture is to complain about an island the other side of the world, his words and thoughts all spoken in English, but I'd really rather he didn't know how to speak English. The internet's been much grimmer the more populated it's gotten.
