interestingly enough, when i was getting sentenced, my prosecutor cited a case where some guy was getting his ass kicked, and halfway through the beatdown the dude called him a nigger, and they guy got a hate crime enhancement.....even though the law specifically states that the court must prove the victim was targeted solely because of their protected class status and for no other reason (race, ethnicity, religion, etc)

I helped myself through reading several self help books, taught myself spanish, stayed away from political discussion, did a lot of meditating, writing, reflecting

it took a lot of work. changing the way you think is something you need to work on every single day.

a lot of people spend their time bullshitting, doing drugs, gambling, etc
i was determined to spend each day trying to make myself a better person than i was the day before
i wanted to make sure i left prison a better person than when i entered

by the time i got to the mainline (big prison) the only program were.... fuck i cant even remember. thats how trash they were. they only exist on paper so the feds can claim that theyre actually doing something to rehabilitate people but in reality they are garbage and do nothing to help.

Honestly I wasn't doing well out there. My mind was fucked up from years of loneliness, health problems, and depression. I was self-harming every day: punching, cutting, mutilating myself. Snapping at loved ones. Driving crazy getting into road rage. I was miserable. I definitely used the time to help myself.
