There's a problem with Oda's fantasy of the world being united on one Island.
In his mind, a one island world with limitless energy would be a utopia. One where everyone would be happy.
But such a world is also devoid for adventure and mystery. It is a world where strength and bravery no longer matter, where subversion and manipulation for the sake of social power would thrive.
It is a world of stagnation. Nothing would grow. There would be no struggle. The weak, mostly of character, would thrive, while the strong of will would have nothing worth doing.
It would be like today's world. Eternally stagnating and rotting, with all cultures and peoples not mixing and spreading, but instead cancelling each other out until there is nothing but a blob of meh.
No dreams. No adventure. Nothing.
But Oda still has the Japanese Idealism, which likely comes from being a part of an isolated island nation. I don't think he can see it for what it is..
