“It is her prerogative,” Rubida reminds you three with a sigh, even as she rests her head on her fist, her blue eyes glancing at you. “And yet I think she overstepped. That was your Master’s gift, wasn’t it?”
“It still is,” you reply, thanking Soralisa with a nod. You take a spoon of the broth — it’s delicious, the pieces of meat so soft and tasty, mixed with vegetables and all sorts of spices.
Wait, weren’t spices a Frigéian import?

“But she has promised not to destroy it, and insofar she has proven to be trustworthy. At least in that. And there’s something else…”
“Well, I don’t like her,”Soralisa huffs. “She has brought only misfortune upon us. Will she at least be useful as she agreed to? To find—” she looks around, to check on any prying ears, but you are all alone. The Throne people finally left you alone for a few minutes, just enough to have dinner together. A very late dinner.
“I don’t like it either,” you nod, taking another sip.
An angry sip. Curse these Frigéian spices making it so delicious, and curse your hunger twice.
