>Just say 'deformed' or 'swollen' as that's literally what wikipedia describes it as. Using a big word there served no other purpose than "look, I am actually smart, I bet you haven't heard of this medical term hehe, go look it up sweetie"
You're right, unnecessarily verbose but I wanted to use this technical medical term because its more description of what happened to the Demigods after inheriting their Great Runes. Deformed and "swollen" yes but in a very specific manner...they are "swollen" and "swelling" in power in very unique and different ways. Rykard fed himself to the snake (Ouroboros) in his mad ambition. Godrick became even more obsessed with reclaiming his lineages lost glory. Morgott even more obsessed with protecting the Erdtree that never loved him. Ranni became even more of a reclusive scheming femcel...and Malenia and Miquella are the most unique in this regard. Malenia got even stronger and even more sick...and Miquella strangely shows no outward deformation, but I would like to convince you that there is deformation.
In particular I would need to talk about what Marika's order is truly about, and how Miquella sought to improve it throughout his own order in the wake of the shattering.
Marika's order is built on love. True love. Love is a personal, selfish thing. Marika loved all, but not equally. Her children, husbands and some children more than others. Those blessed that the Erdtree over the mangly misbegotten servants. And in her love we find in the Land of Shadow she committed horrible atrocities in the name of love, embarking on a cultural genocide against the Hornsent (allegorically Jews opinion) and ensuring that they died in the dark and never saw the light of day again simply as a terrible vengeance for the mad cruelty inflicting upon her shaman brethren. And so she Marika discarded her innocence, climbed the rotten, bloodstained steps of the Divine Gates and became a God.
