Pretty sure it was just her drive to get revenge that kept her alive. Flam needs a goal or person to latch onto for purpose. Its why when Pretzel died she went batshit insane and killed an unarmed civy in cold bloot. She had nothing to ground her so her morals and "beliefs" went out the window. Once she found out the identity of who killed Pretzel she had a goal in mind so she got her focus back and pursued them until she died. That is the detail a lot of people miss of Flam imo idk if that was intentional by the writers but it is the only consistent thing about her. She needs a goal or person in her life.

That wasnt very important because Jin had lot of former berman soliders working at the factory too so they could do all that stuff. Flam only translated books for about a week before they had to go into Fuga 3 story wise.
