your ears are so fucked you probably don't even know it. I could link you like 20 other bands from the same era and I'd bet you poo poo all of them just because they don't have that savory slick production value.
the 90s especially suck, its like a whole decade of just up-cycling the underground from the 80s and giving them yahweh tier studio productions but if your ears is trained on that, addicted to that production sound there's almost no hope for you.
I've already heard all the excuses a billion times trying to share other bands

If Laine never joined AIC and just kept pretending he was a black guy, larping as a black pimp a funk band you'd hate his guts or more likely, not even know who he was.
