For the record, the underground metal scene, though it uses much more extreme themes and lyrics, doesn't have half the problems you're all talking about with edm. I don't make music but I go to shows with a friends band sometimes, and the metal scene is generally full of cool people. The biggest problems with it is someone just usually gets too fucked up at the show and then they play off-key.
