Oh, Golden Harvest is Carrot Top. Obviously. You have to be a total idiot not to remember that. What, are you so stupid that you thought there were two carrot ponies? At least you didn't make a separate, visually distinct Carrot Top in your mind, right? (Fuck!) Anyway, AJxCarrotTop is a cognitohazard, and I refuse to acknowledge it.

Yeah, I can see why some may not like this, but thus far it has hit me in two weak spots: a one-two punch of mental deterioration and an adorable romance. The former, cognitive decline or brain damage, is one of my greatest fears — particularly being in a state of awareness that something has changed, that you're aware that you're no longer you, but a ghost of what was, chasing yourself. Aside from that, the opening chapters of walking around town was actually a comfortable, easy read with nice visuals. The films Jacob's Ladder (1990) and Carnival of Souls (1962) loosely came to mind. As for the romance, it is super cute. I was going to say it was done fairly tastefully, but chapter 4 uppercut me with how horny it all became (I wasn't expecting all that from the teen rating). However, being horny is a part of life; it shows Roseluck's passion and biology in her stringed together vignettes, so I'll excuse those filthy pagan traditions and debauchery this time around (but if it happens again in the next half, I'm going to start preaching).

This was a good place to stop in the story, that cliffhanger is tantalising, and now I'm anticipating getting body-slammed and punted by whatever tragedy is looming ahead, I hope it can pull it off well. (The scene where she's looking and feeling herself on the hospital bed may have given away too much too early.) The writing? A couple mistakes, sure, whatever. Some repetition here and there, but I imagine it wouldn't feel too bad if reading slow. And more fics need ponyisms like tail flicking and ankle crooks, but maybe not to the extent that this one does. Oh, and the world building with the postage stamps and roses was nicely done. I'm not going to reach for any deeper meaning right now, because it feels like the story is going to try to rug-pull (for the love of God please don't be domestic violence or an affair).

Now, the Spike fact revealed this week is that he knows how to tie ropes around ponies. I imagine this is going to be crucial to the plot when it's revealed that he taught Roseluck about autoerotic asphyxiation, hence her condition. And Pinkie's got cuckquean'd three times so far (twice as a ghost looking at ghost-Roseluck ghost-hump, and once in the memory of the "Promise Booth"), I hope I don't have to add to that tally. Also:

Berry sisters, we need to unionise against these flower sluts.
