I forget where exactly, but I remember it being explicitly stated that Arahime the fox spirit wanted to steal Ohime's powers. This is from her reference art saying "I'm going to receive/consume Ohime's power" but I remember there being a note from the artist talking about this as well. There's a good bit of info in the Mikanko reference art, like about the 3 main girls' families.
Also the Ohime reference art states that her appearance is taken from the first Mikanko so that explains the alt-art.
