If your argument is that mentally ill people should be excused for abandoning their children because they're incompetent, then my rebuttal is that they should be prevented from having children entirely. If you have a mental illness then you should have your tubes tied, flat out. No child deserves to grow without a nurturing mother and father. The only real victims in this disaster are the husband and daughter... and the foxes, but animals will always take a backseat to the welfare of people.
