For me it was the opposite actually, got to a point where I had a nice build and the game just got boring, and since I don't like pvp there wasn't much else to do. I usually go for ng+ runs but ER drags on for way too long

Never said that... What I mean is that magic usually works as an abstraction and replaces the need for science, so unless there's some sort of separation it'd be weird for the two concepts to coexist. Like if I wanted to read about nuclear fusion I wouldn't expect to find something like that in a fantasy novel... Maybe I'm misunderstanding though
