Incidentally, my friend is fucking dead in part because of this shit too. She was on meds for a severe anxiety condition, lost her insurance and couldn't make it through the 6+ month waiting list to get an appointment and a new prescription through the state healthcare, so she bought some "xanax" - sealed in a bottle with a Mexican pharmacy label and everything - from one of those street vendors and it turned out to be cut with fentanyl, which she had an unusually high sensitivity to (along with other opioids) and her roommate came home and found her dead. Obviously a lot of the blame there is down to our fucked healthcare system too but that also raises the question of how much less fucked it might be if it didn't have to deal with millions of people who shouldn't even be in the country, much less taking advantage of it.
