Squads spread through the jungle scouting the area they come across huge bees loud buzzing echoes between the trees. A warriors get too close to one harvesting a giant flower and the bee jumps back defensibly and begins buzzing become louder making the squad feel sick. They quickly retreat back to the river it seems the bees didn't follow them. The felled trees are brought back to the island and next few moons the Orilans make repeat trips gathering more wood avoiding the bees.
The orange wood is extremely buoyant when the trees were carried over, they barely dipped into the water. It takes a long time to carve a canoe from the trees as they are very hard and heavy off the water. A traditionally made from the wood is hard to control and prone to tip over. A few boys inspired by your tale craft a flat pointed board curved like the waves. These boards are still dangerous they can go very fast in the water and are hard to control. Maybe elders see this as to dangerous and dumb to pilot, but the youth see it as test of courage and skill to be able to ride the board. They call it buggin like a water bug dancing across the river.
After a few moons the production of the red plant increased fourfold allowing for more liberal use than just in the household. Tree tenders begin to use the smoke to get bugs off the fruits allowing for bigger harvests. (Agriculture 5/10 Repellent 5/10 Health 4/10)
