NTA, but I still can't imagine who thought it would be a good idea to funnel so much resources into a character like this. Sure, Molly Collins had little going for her, which explains why she got axed from second season. But that same second season pulled out Sarah out of nowhere - at which point she was the most generic-looking character of the cast with zero characterization and personality - which is something that likely got Molly pushed out of the show until "The Void" - but this time it was treated as an excuse to make her into one of the most prominent non-Watterson characters.
This had to be some under-the-table deal where, for instance, Ben had to take some OC donut steel of a child of one of the CN executives and turn her into Gumball character in exchange for better bargaining position.
