Panceta is Spanish pork belly (different from bacon although sometimes mistakenly used as a synonym) and it has been consumed for centuries. Both in Spain, other parts of Europe (Italy = Pancetta) and parts of Latin America.
Similarly, Poland has Boczek and Germany has Speck. Both made from different cuts of pork belly.
And of course Americans have had bacon for a long time and it has been a mainstream food as long as I can remember. (In the 1990s people were already bacon-crazy).
Acting as if Asian people were the only ones who knew about the mythical pork belly and now whitey is doing cultural appropiation or some shit is beyond retarded.
No we don't go to Asian markets to buy pork belly every country has its own cuts under their own names.
