Well, that's the thing. Bella wasn't supposed to have Michelle's energy. She's a timid, quiet, reserved girl. I'm not saying Stewart is a better actress than Michelle, far from it imo, but the role of Bella suited her. She played her exactly as she's written in the books. Michelle had very different acting style and personality, and even though she could've pulled off just about anything, I'm not sure she would've portrayed Bella as convincingly. I would've loved to see her try though.
