That's not a good thing and is purely reflective of their selfishness. Ever since the 60s America has been on a path to civil war and collapse. It's been obvious for at least 15-20 years now that this drama of collapse is unavoidable; something has to change, in a big way and quickly, in a way that politics can't handle, and the longer we wait the worse it gets. The boomers could deal with it, but it would mean sacrificing comfort. Which they won't do.
So the boomers just don't want it to happen until they're dead or close to it. They want nothing to happen for the rest of their retirement, and so they're procrastinating on the collapse, but the only ways to procrastinate on it will also make it much, much worse when it eventually happens.
