Women hate anything that men enjoy because it takes their attention away from their vagina.
They hate alcohol, tobacco, firearms, dangerous sports, pornography, video games. Anything men enjoy they hate. They petition to ban it, ruin it, or tax it until it's unaffordable. Not much to do with puritanism and it's not exclusive to American women; women everywhere hate the things that men enjoy.
