And you touch on something I’ve actually been thinking about with the appeal problems of this series. The market (at least from what I can tell online) for a WWII game with anime girls seems to be mainly made up of weird nerds (like me), and these people tend to ideologically align more towards the political extremes like Natsocs and Commies. VC however, just like all the WWII games of the time, focuses on Western Allies instead. Nobody actually gives a fuck about the Western Allies besides boomers, they were the lamest faction of the war, and they are especially unpopular in the game’s home region of Japan. But you can’t actually go full Naziwank because then you would have media controversy. A real damned if you do damned if you don’t moment.
