The main story was initially tied to mission progress back then. So by the time we reached that fight, our students were strong enough to breeze through it. It was supposed to show the power of the card by letting you use overleveled students. The game later removed the mission requirements in an anniversary to let newfags catch up to the story quicker but left fights as is so now some fights end up as temporary roadblocks.
